Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum

St. Peter’s Pre-School offers a child-led, play based curriculum, with reference to the ‘Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage’ (2023). This sets the standard for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years old. We plan our curriculum based on the seven “Educational Programmes”

Communication and language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design

Our room is organised into different areas of play, which help children to make progress in each of the areas of learning and development. These areas are:

These areas of learning are also reflected in our outdoor environment. Children are free to move between all areas, once the register is completed, between the indoor and outdoor environment.

What we offer

We believe that care and education are equally important in the experience that we offer children. The routines and activities that make up the Pre-School sessions are made up in ways that:

Help each child feel they are a valued member of the Pre-School
Ensure the safety of each child
Help children to gain from the social experience of being part of a group
Encourage independence and self-confidence
Provide children with opportunities to learn and help them to value learning
